Privacy Policy

Effective October 21, 2026

This policy explains what information Kit collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. "Kit," "we" and "us" mean Kit, the company that runs the Kit app and getkitapp.co.

The short version
  • Kit is private by default. Your posts go to the friends, groups, Moments and Vibe Checks you choose.
  • You must be 18 or older to use Kit.
  • We don't sell your personal information, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
  • Camera, photos, contacts, location, calendar and notifications are all optional. Kit only asks when you use a feature that needs them.
  • You can report or block anyone, and delete your account and data at any time from Profile → Settings.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details: your phone number (used to sign in with a text-message code), name, username, birthday, and profile photo. You can also add a bio and a location (a place you type, such as a city).
  • Photos and videos: fits, profile photos, Moment covers, mood-board and inspiration images, and anything else you upload.
  • Things you post and send: captions, tags, Fit Checks and votes, comments, flames and saves, Moments and Vibe Checks (titles, dates, places you type, mood words), direct messages, group and Moment chats, GIFs you pick, and borrow requests (including any dates and notes you add).
  • Your network: friend requests, friends, the groups you create, and the people you invite.
  • Reports, feedback and support: reports you submit, feedback you send in the app, and emails you send us. If you join the beta list on our website, your email address.

Information from your device, only if you allow it

  • Camera and photo library: used only to take or choose the photos you upload. If you choose limited photo access, Kit only sees the photos you pick.
  • Contacts (optional): if you tap "Link contacts" to find friends, Kit reads the phone numbers in your contacts and checks which of them already belong to Kit accounts. Contact names are never uploaded. We don't keep the phone numbers of contacts who aren't on Kit. We only save which existing Kit accounts matched, so we can suggest them as friends.
  • Location (optional): Kit never asks for location permission on its own. If you've already allowed location access, Kit may use your approximate current location to suggest nearby places when you search for one. We don't save your device's location to your account. Places you choose for a Moment or Vibe Check are saved with it so guests can see where it is and get a weather forecast.
  • Calendar (optional): if you tap "Add to calendar," Kit adds that event to your device calendar. Kit doesn't read your calendar.
  • Notifications (optional): if you turn on push notifications, we store a device token so we can send them.

Information collected automatically

  • Activity in Kit: what you've seen, voted on, saved and read, so we can show unread counts and the right content.
  • Device and log information: device type, operating system, app version, IP address, and the times and results of requests to our servers. We use this to run, secure and fix Kit.
  • Crash and error reports: technical details about what went wrong, such as the screen or feature in use, app version and the error itself. Before reports are sent, we remove phone numbers, sign-in information and links to your photos.

We do not collect your device's advertising identifier, and we don't use advertising or cross-app tracking tools.

People in your photos

Only post photos of other people if they're comfortable being shared. Kit doesn't automatically detect, recognize or blur faces, so it's up to the person posting.

If you're in a photo on Kit and want it taken down, report it in the app (tap ••• → Report) or email kitfounders@getkitapp.co with a description or link. You don't need a Kit account to ask. We review reports and remove photos that break our rules or that someone hasn't agreed to.

How we use information

  • Run Kit: sign you in, show your posts to the people you choose, deliver messages and notifications, and keep your fits organized.
  • Help you find friends, through search, optional contact matching and phone discovery.
  • Send text invites when you invite someone by phone number, and sign-in codes.
  • Show weather forecasts and nearby place suggestions for your plans.
  • Keep Kit safe: confirm everyone is 18 or older, check uploads for content that breaks our rules, review reports, and prevent spam and abuse.
  • Fix bugs and keep Kit reliable, using logs and crash reports.
  • Reply to your support requests and feedback.

We won't use your photos, name or likeness in Kit's marketing without asking you first and getting your permission.

How information is shared

We don't sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only in these ways:

  • With the people you choose. Posts, Moments, Vibe Checks, messages and borrow requests go to the people you share them with, as described in "Who can see what."
  • With service providers who run Kit for us. They may use your information only to provide their service to Kit:
    • App hosting and database (Replit)
    • Photo and video storage (Google Cloud)
    • Sign-in codes and text invites (Twilio)
    • Push notifications (Apple, through Expo)
    • GIF search (GIPHY), which receives your search words
    • Weather forecasts and place search, which receive the place or search words, and an approximate location if you've allowed it
    • Crash and error reporting (Sentry)
    • Email delivery
  • For safety and the law. If we believe it's needed to comply with the law, respond to valid legal requests, protect someone's safety, or enforce our Terms.
  • If Kit changes hands. If Kit is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of it. This policy keeps applying to it.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is open.

  • Deleting a post: it's removed from Kit, and copies others saved of it disappear too.
  • Deleting your account: your account is turned off right away and others can no longer see your profile or content. About 30 days later, we permanently delete your profile, photos, fits, posts, comments and messages.
  • What we keep after deletion: reports and moderation records needed to keep Kit safe, and a scrambled record that stops your old sign-ins from working. These don't include your photos or profile. We may also keep information when the law requires it.
  • Logs and crash reports: kept only as long as needed to run and secure Kit.
  • Backups: deleted data can stay in backups for a limited time before it's overwritten.

Your choices and rights

  • Edit or delete: change your profile and posts, delete individual posts, or delete your whole account in Profile → Settings → Delete account, or by emailing us.
  • Control your audience: choose who sees each post, make your profile public or private, and turn phone discovery on or off in Settings.
  • Report and block: tap ••• on any post, comment, profile or conversation, or press and hold a message, then choose Report or Block.
  • Device permissions: turn off Kit's access to your camera, photos, contacts, location, calendar or notifications at any time in your device settings. Kit keeps working without them.
  • Email: unsubscribe from beta emails with the link in any email.

California residents. You can ask to know what personal information we have about you, and ask us to delete or correct it. Email kitfounders@getkitapp.co. We won't treat you differently for making a request. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections, signed sign-in sessions, access checks on every request, and limits on how often actions can be repeated. No system is perfectly secure, so please tell us right away if you think something's wrong.

Age requirement

Kit is only for people 18 and older. We ask for your birthday when you sign up and don't let anyone younger create an account. If we learn someone under 18 has an account, we'll delete it. If you believe a child is using Kit, email us at kitfounders@getkitapp.co.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we'll update the effective date and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.

terms

Terms of Service: eligibility, photos, and content

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use Kit. By using Kit, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the information you give us, including your birthday, is accurate. We may suspend or delete accounts that don't meet this requirement.

Your content and the rights of others

You may only upload content you own or have the right to share. By uploading a photo, you represent and warrant that:

  • you have the right to post it;
  • you have the permission of every identifiable person in it to share their image on Kit, or you have cropped or blurred them so they can't be identified; and
  • it doesn't violate anyone's privacy, publicity, intellectual property, or other rights.

Don't upload photos that are mainly of other people, photos of strangers taken without their knowledge, or photos of minors. You agree to indemnify Kit against claims arising from content you upload in breach of these terms.

License to Kit

You keep ownership of your content. You give Kit a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to host, store, process, display, and modify your content (including cropping faces) only as needed to operate and provide the Services to you and the people you share with. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared with others or kept as required by law.

Marketing use requires separate permission

This license does not let Kit use your photos, name, or likeness in advertising, promotional materials, social media, or app store listings. Kit will ask for your separate, specific permission first, will remove or crop anyone else in an approved photo, and will stop future uses if you withdraw permission.

Reporting and removal

Kit may review, crop, or remove any content that appears to show someone without their permission, or that is the subject of a removal request, and may suspend accounts that repeatedly violate these rules. Anyone may report a photo of themselves through the app or at kitfounders@getkitapp.co, whether or not they have a Kit account.
